DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 2 — Tanzanian Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has called on local agricultural producers to improve the quality of their goods to meet international standards and compete effectively in global markets.
Speaking at the opening of the 33rd National Agricultural Exhibition, known as Nanenane, in Dodoma on Saturday, Nchemba said locally produced agricultural goods should consistently meet exhibition-level standards in everyday production.
“Our products should not be for display only, but must reflect the standard of our daily output,” he said, stressing that aligning production with global market requirements would boost demand, expand markets and drive economic growth.
He noted that Tanzania has achieved 130 percent food self-sufficiency and increased agricultural exports by 77 percent, making the sector a reliable source of foreign exchange.
The annual exhibition, running through Aug. 8, aims to promote technology adoption, economic growth and international cooperation in the agricultural sector. (Namibia Daily News / Xinhua)
