RUNDU, 01 OCT (NAMPA) – The Rundu Town Council is conducting an internal investigation against an employee who was arrested on 14 September for allegedly stealing a bulldozer.
The town council’s acting Chief Executive Officer, Sikongo Haihambo told Nampa on Monday that Damian Dinyando has not been suspended and will continue working while the internal processes are ongoing.
“The council will primarily be led by prima facie evidence and findings through its investigations, and act accordingly,” he said.
The 40-year-old Dinyando appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on 17 September before Magistrate Helen Olaiya. Prosecutor Emma Mayavero represented the State.
He was granted bail of N.dollars 10 000 and his case was postponed to Tuesday.
He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle read with the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act 12 of 1999.
According to the charge sheet, a bulldozer valued at N.dollars 500 000 is involved and has still not been recovered.
Haihambo said he will reveal the council’s decision once he has gone through a report drafted by Dinyando’s supervisor after the investigations.
