RUNDU, July 14 – The vice president of the Student Representative Council at the Rundu Unam campus Mukoya Vernet says the age limit set by the Namibian Defence Force is preventing many capable Namibians from applying for jobs.
He said the requirement that aspiring candidates should be between 18-25 years is unacceptable as it is preventing many unemployed people who want to join NDF from doing so.
Mukoya said unemployment has become the downfall of the country’s economic development because we are incapable of creating jobs for our people.
“When an opportunity arises, let us give it to the best but it has become the norm that people who are not capable of doing the job are selected because of connections,” he said.
Namibia is blessed because it has all the human resources needed to succeed. I believe NDF will do the right thing because age does not define the will of a person who wants to fight for his/her country, he said.
