MADRID, Jan. 31– Brazilian winger Wesley Gassova has arrived in San Sebastian to complete his move to La Liga outfit Real Sociedad.
The 20-year-old will join on an initial loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, with Real Sociedad holding a 12-million-euro option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.
Wesley arrived in San Sebastian on Friday afternoon and is expected to sign after undergoing a medical. The Brazilian will initially provide cover for Japan international Takefusa Kubo, who will be sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring injury and is expected to leave the club in the summer.
Speaking to the press on Friday, Real Sociedad coach Pellegrino Matarazzo expressed his satisfaction at the move, saying, “I like the player, but I don’t really like talking about players who are not yet with us.”
“It’s true we are looking for an attacking player, who can compete and offer an alternative in several positions,” added the coach.
Real Sociedad has also extended the contract of midfielder Pablo Marin, who has signed a new deal until June 2029 after making 21 appearances so far this season. (Namibia Daily News / Xinhua)
