OTJIWARONGO, 08 JUL – A public prosecutor of the Rundu Magistrate’s Court in the Kavango East Region was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly ganged up with a male relative to attack a four-month pregnant woman at Outjo.
The 36-year-old prosecutor and his 19-year-old relative allegedly kicked and punched the woman in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha confirmed the arrest of the two suspects in an interview with Nampa later the same day.
Mbeha said the two men were arrested for assault, and/or grievous bodily harm after the 36-year-old woman instituted the charges against them.
It alleged that the suspects at about 02h30 on Saturday in Jack Francois Street near the Etoshapoort Junior Secondary School teamed up to beat the complainant.
“The woman was allegedly kicked in the belly and punched in the face by the two suspects, to the extent that she lost two teeth,” said Mbeha.
She said the two men will appear in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
