OSHAKATI, 27 JUL – The third leg of the 2018 popular Old Mutual Victory Race series which is taking place for the 18th consecutive year, will be held in Oshakati on Saturday.
According Old Mutual Communications Practitioner Shekutaamba Nepembe, the company has committed over N.dollars 1 million for this year’s event.
Speaking during a media engagement held at an Ongwediva hotel on Thursday, Nepembe noted that the first two legs were held in Swakopmund in the Erongo Region on 16 June and Keetmanshoop in the //Kharas Region on 07 July.
The remaining and final leg of the series is expected to take place on 18 August in Windhoek.
About 1 000 athletes are expected to partake in the Oshakati leg.
However, Nepembe pointed out that this year, school kids are excluded due to the risks involved in running in the road where cars are also passing by at the same time.
“We plan to make something special for the junior runners in order for them not to feel left out,” said Nepembe.
Distances to be ran are 10 kilometres (km) and 21km plus a 5km fun walk.
