WINDHOEK, 29 MAY – Nedbank and Ernst & Young today launched the Nedbank Citi Dash which is set to place on 23 June 2018 in the heart of Windhoek.
The Nedbank Citi Dash 2018 coincides with the international Olympic Day, which is celebrated by millions of people in more than 160 countries worldwide. Commemorating the birth of the modern Olympic Games with the mission of promoting fitness, well-being, culture and education while reinforcing the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
Speaking at the launch, Nedbank’s Executive for Wealth Elaine Schlechter, invited all Namibians to take part in the much anticipated race, “I challenge corporates to enter teams, schools to enter, and individuals to take up the fun challenge and join us on this exciting run in our beautiful CBD. For our serious runners, the 10km Citi Dash will be a real treat! With a cut off time of under 50min, this category is specifically designed to showcase Namibia’s running talent.”
The City of Windhoek has committed their full support to this event with approval from his Worship Muesee Kazapua the Major of Windhoek. The City will avail essential services to the event including the Windhoek City Police Service – WCPS, Traffic Department, Fire Department and the Parks and Recreation Office’s services.
With options of 5 km and 10km, running or walking, this is the perfect event for a family outing. Ten N$1000 spot prizes are also up for grabs in the Fun Run event. The 10km Citi Dash will be open to athletes who can complete 10km in under 50 min and the cut off time will be strictly enforced.
Designed to showcase Namibia’s running talent, the route will take athletes up and down Independence Avenue over 10000 thrilling meters. Only the top male and female in the respective categories will receive prize money. Categories are Elite Male and Elite Female with N$15000 prize money each, under 18 Male and Female with N$10000 prize money each, visually impaired and Disabled/Wheelchair categories with N$7500 prize money each.
Entries are open and tickets are available from Events Today, PayToday app, all Airtime City vending machines, the EYE STORE in Maerua Mall and Cycletec. – NDN Staffer
