Ndaitwah donates political science books to Ministry of Defence

WINDHOEK, 20 JUN  – The Ministry of Defence (MoD) received 60 copies of political science books from the former Chief of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), Retired (Rtd) Lieutenant General Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah here on Tuesday.
Authored by Ndaitwah, the books ‘A Life and Views of a Soldier’ and ‘Strategic Leadership and Management the Direction Pointers’, were received by MoD Deputy Minister, Billy Mwaningange on behalf of Minister Penda Ya Ndakolo.
They highlight expectations of a soldier and strategies to follow in decision-making and will be distributed to NDF main libraries.
During the handover ceremony, Mwaningange encouraged the men and women in uniform to adopt a culture of reading as they are the target audience in this case.
“To avoid the donated books from being decorating materials on our shelves, we should acknowledge Ndaitwah’s knowledge by reading them,” he said.
Head of Directorate Education and Civil Training at MoD and the NDF, Edward Hauanga at the same event applauded Ndaitwah for donating the books as it is in line with the ministry’s mandate.
“We have a programme in place to kill the attitude of not reading within NDF members, because statistics show that the majority of Namibians do not like reading; we are also included,” he said.
Hauanga also called on the business community to support its programme by donating relevant reading material to MoD and other institutions.
Ndaitwah urged staff of the ministry and NDF to inculcate a passion for reading to enable them to know writing tactics and not just reading newspapers.
Apart from the two beneficiaries, Ndaitwah is also going to donate his books to three other institutions and the Swapo Party School.
