NCCS Pupkewitz Megabuild cycling team ready for eSwatini

WINDHOEK, 05 SEP – The NCCS Pupkewitz Megabuild cycling team says they are ready to compete at the upcoming MTN Khemani Road Classic in eSwatini on Saturday.
The MTN Khemani Road Classic is the largest and most popular road race in eSwatini which is recognised by the International Cycling Union (UCI).
Teams from Namibia, South Africa and the host nation will be competing in what is the sixth edition of the race.
Speaking at a media briefing held in the capital on Wednesday to announce their sponsorship with Pupkewitz Megabuild, the NCCS Cycling Team Principal and communication manager, Jacob Kiyola, said the team has been training hard ahead of their trip to eSwatini.
“This year we will be competing for the second time in this cycling event and I am confident that our team will do well and probably win something,” he said.
Speaking at the same occasion, Namibia Cycling Federation president, Rolf Adrian said these types of competitions are important for local cycling. He urged the NCCS team to do well while competing in the championship.
“As a team you need to have a goal and I am happy that one of your goals is building a team that can compete in international competitions. I hope our riders will do well and hopefully get selected for the national team,” he said.
Jeanne Lowe, Pupkewitz Megabuild commercial manager said they are happy to have joined hands with the team as sponsors because it is part of their responsibility to invest in youth development.
“Harold Pupkewitz believed in empowering and investing in our own future, that is why we decided to partner with the NCCS team because we know they are a young team and will do well for our country, which will in return motivate other young athletes to join the sport,” he said.
The team travelling to eSwatini will consist of Drikus Coetzee, Lotto Petrus, Jafet Amukushu, Johannes Hamunyela, Marckernzy Eiseb and Denzel de Koe who are riders, while Kiyola and Ebben-Ezer Iita will be the team’s management. – NAMPA
