Namvet proposes fundraising for apprehension of Ujaha’s killers

WINDHOEK, SEPT. 6 – The Namibia War Veterans Trust (Namvet) is organising a fundraising for the late Cheryl Avihe Ujaha, whose mutilated body was found near the Staanvas circle in Khomasdal last week, to increase the reward amount offered by the Namibian Police Force.
The police last week Thursday offered a reward of N$30 000 for information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators responsible for the nine-year-old’s brutal murder.
In a media release to this agency on Wednesday, Namvet programme manager, Papama Simeon said they were shocked by the death of Ujaha and fear it might not be the last, unless those responsible are detained and brought to book.
“The Namibian law enforcement agencies will need the maximum support of everyone as they alone without such support might not be able to apprehend the culprits,” said Simeon.
He also said the N$30 000 offered by the Namibian Police is not enough and they are therefore proposing that every peace-loving Namibian contribute N$1 to consolidate the amount offered by NamPol.
“If that contribution is done, the right person with the right information will come out at the right time without hesitation,” said Simeon.
According to Namvet, they have already communicated to their members and will start collecting the funds from them as from Thursday.
“The members will also go out with forms to collect the N$1 donation from the members of the public which will be handed over to NamPol,” said Simeon. – NAMPA
