Swakopmund, July 23 – The Commonwealth Games 2022, will take place in Birmingham in the United Kingdom from 28 July to 8 August 2022.
More than 54 Commonwealth nations will be competing at the tournament in which athletes participate in several sporting events. Namibia will also be participating in the games.
There are a total of 19 sports and eight para-sports at this year’s games – making it the biggest sporting programme in the history of the competition. In total, there will be 286 sessions of sport that will take place in 11 days of action.
Cabous Sous Olivier and JP Fouche, accompanied by team manager Freddie Fouche, are off to Birmingham, United Kingdom to compete in this year’s tournament.
Cabous and JP will represent Namibia in the lawn bowl men’s pairs event, where they have been drawn in section A along with Wales, Norfolk Island, Northern Ireland and Jamaica. Cabous will also compete in the men’s singles, where he has been drawn in section C along with England, Malaysia, Fiji and Jamaica.
“We wish Cabous and JP safe travels and all the best for the upcoming tournament. This is a highlight in the career of any athlete, and we have no doubt that you will represent the nation with pride,” said the Namibia Bowling Association.
