WINDHOEK, June 27 — Namibia’s National Art Gallery (NAGN) will take part in the Afro Festival from June 28 to 30 in Belgrade, Serbia as the special exhibiting guest for the year, an official said Wednesday.
The Afro Festival has been organized by the Museum of African Art since 1997 and is a unique event in Serbia and the region, which promotes the cultures of Africa.
NAGN CEO Snobia Kaputu said NAGN will use the opportunity to showcase Namibian art and craft at the international art platform.
Kaputu said the festival offers exhibitions and lectures, concerts, talks, travel-related programs and film screenings on African arts and cultures, music and art workshops, among others.
“On June 28, the festival will host the African Bazaar, an art and crafts sale exhibition,” Kaputu added.
At the festival, Namibia will showcase art and crafts from various artists as well as catalogs documenting Namibian art.
Kaputu said Namibia will also sign a smart partnership agreement with the Museum of African Art on future collaborations and networking. – XINHUA
