WINDHOEK, 23 AUG – Namibia and Senegal will explore and enhance cooperation through various offices, ministries and agencies, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Engel Nawatiseb announced on Thursday.
He told a media briefing here that Cabinet directed the signing of memoranda of agreements on fisheries and aquaculture; port affairs management; agriculture; and youth and sports between the two countries.
The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation was instructed to speed up the drafting of an agreement on visa exemption for Senegalese diplomatic and official passport holders and train Namibian foreign officials in the French language.
Cabinet further directed the Ministry of Safety and Security to advance cooperation with Senegal in the areas of public safety, movement of people, judicial police and drug control.
Government will furthermore explore cooperation in the areas of digital terrestrial transition, programme exchange in the field of television, training in new digital professions, and economic viability of print media in the digital age.
The two countries will also explore cooperation in the areas of information sharing, surveillance, training opportunities and exchange of visits by experts of both health ministries.
