WINDHOEK,July 5,Namibia Daily News, one of Namibia’s leading and fastest-growing digital news platforms, has been selected to accompany President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on her official State Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 5 to 10 July 2026, underscoring the publication’s growing influence and credibility in both local and international journalism.
The newspaper will be represented by its Founder and Publisher, Wensel Mavara, an internationally acclaimed entrepreneur and media executive whose longstanding engagement with China spans more than two decades.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Mavara described the opportunity as both an honour and a continuation of his commitment to strengthening Namibia-China relations.
“My relationship with China spans more than two decades. Two years ago, I was appointed by a Chinese government institution in Shandong Province as its sole representative for trade promotion activities in Namibia. This appointment gave me valuable exposure to China’s economic development model, investment environment, and business culture,” Mavara said.
He added that over the years he has cultivated strong professional and institutional relationships with Chinese stakeholders while travelling extensively across numerous Chinese provinces.
“This visit reflects my sustained engagement and unwavering commitment to advancing cooperation between Namibia and China. I have consistently advocated for stronger China-Africa cooperation, and this presents another important opportunity to represent Namibia while exploring partnerships that promote human development and economic growth.”
Mavara is also a member of the China-Africa Think Tank Network, where he actively contributes to policy discussions on trade, investment, innovation, sustainable development, and broader economic cooperation between China and African countries.
“As a member of the China-Africa Think Tank Network, I remain committed to contributing meaningful dialogue on trade, investment, innovation, sustainable development, and economic cooperation. During this visit, I will continue advancing these important conversations while promoting Namibia’s interests,” he said.
