WINDHOEK, Oct. 7– Namibia and Botswana on Monday opened high-level talks in Windhoek aimed at advancing cross-border trade, infrastructure and development cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Speaking at the opening of the senior officials meeting of the second session of the Namibia-Botswana Bi-National Commission, Executive Director at Namibia‘s Ministry of International Relations and Trade Ndiitah Nghipondoka-Robiati said the deliberations reflect both countries’ determination to turn long-standing political ties into concrete cooperation that benefits their citizens.
The five-day meeting will feed into the ministerial session scheduled for Thursday, during which both governments are expected to adopt agreed minutes and a joint communique outlining new cooperation areas.
The Namibia-Botswana Bi-National Commission serves as the highest platform for cooperation between the two neighbors, covering areas such as trade, transport, energy and environmental management. (Xinhua)
