WINDHOEK, 07 NOV – The Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa has instructed the board of the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) to appoint a substantive Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to stabilise the company’s operations.
This was said by newly-appointed NAC Board Chairperson, Leake Hangala during a media briefing on NAC matters here on Wednesday.
“When the current chairperson of the board of directors was recently appointed, part of the immediate actions that Minister John Mutorwa instructed the board to undertake, is the appointment of a substantive CEO,” he said.
NAC appointed Lot Haifidi as acting CEO on 03 August 2018, replacing Albertus Aochamub who also acted in the position from December 2017 until February 2018.
“We are pleased to announce that we will finalise the appointment of a substantive CEO before the end of 2018,” Hangala said.
He further noted that the board has tasked the management to finalise the cases of suspended executives and resolve matters pertain to increasing acting roles of the company.
He said the efforts are aimed at improving staff morale and are necessary for redirecting the company, providing leadership for effective corporate governance and consolidate resource management.
