WINDHOEK, 24 APR – The Chamber of Mines of Namibia will host the 2018 Mining Expo and Conference at the Windhoek Showgrounds on Wednesday and Thursday.
The expo will be held under the theme ‘Maximising the multiplier effect from Namibia’s mining sector’ and is expected to cover current key topics in the mining industry.
A media statement issued on Tuesday indicated that Minister of Mines and Energy, Tom Alweendo will officiate at the event.
“Topics to be discussed at the expo include the Opuwo Cobalt Project; women in mining; and the growing importance of renewable energy solutions for the mining sector,” it said.
A panel discussion on exploring options for localisation and empowerment transactions in Namibia’s mining sector will also take place.
The Chamber of Mines will also hold its annual general meeting in the capital on Tuesday, during which Alweendo will deliver the keynote address.
