MediPark doctor dies at Oshakati

OSHAKATI, 13 APR  – The decomposed body of a 53-year-old doctor was discovered in his flat at Oshakati on Wednesday.
Sergeant Frieda Shikole-Ashiyana of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the region told Nampa on Friday the body was discovered after a neighbour noticed a strange smell coming from his flat.
The doctor, whose name is being withheld as his next of kin have not yet been informed, was last seen last Saturday.
He was employed at the MediPark Private Hospital at Ongwediva.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
In Omusati, the police reported that two people died after their sedan drove into cattle standing in the road at Omhemba village in the Anamulenge Constituency on Friday.
“It is alleged that the driver of a Toyota Corolla was driving from Outapi to Onawa village with five passengers on board, unexpectedly found cattle in the road and hit two of them,” Warrant Officer Linekela Shikongo of the Omusati police said in the daily crime report.
He further explained that the vehicle left the road after crashing into the animals and came to a standstill on the side of the road.
The names of the deceased are withheld as their next of kin are yet to be informed.
Shikongo noted that a case of culpable homicide has been opened against the 20-year-old driver of the vehicle.
