Maltahöhe, Oct. 24 – A 29-year-old Namibian man died when the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a building between Maltahöhe and Rehoboth.
This was confirmed by Hardap Police commissioner Eric Clay who identified the man as Andies Erns Richter. He said several other people were injured.
Clay said the 63-year-old driver of a brown Toyota Land Cruiser was transporting eight people from Maltahöhe village to the farm !Oses on Friday, 21 October.
The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle at the 65km peg along the C14 gravel road between Maltahöhe and Rehoboth.
The vehicle drove into a building located alongside the road.
“The car hit a building next to the road. One passenger died and the driver and other passenger sustained severe injuries,” said the commissioner.
The driver and the passengers are currently being treated for their injuries at the Mariental state hospital.
Clay said the deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death and investigations into the matter are continuing.
