WINDHOEK, Mar. 7 – LEFA, an on-demand cab hailing mobile application that connects clients to shuttle and cab drivers in and around Windhoek, has just signed up its first two female drivers and their shuttle company for
its service in the capital. The shuttle company is called Horizon Transfers Windhoek and the two women are Maxie Smith (left) and Lorraine Stofberg (right).
With LEFA clients can request a cab/shuttle with a touch of a button on their smartphone, eliminating the need for calls and providing directions for pick up and drop off locations. LEFA is already the safe and smart way to make your way to your destination when or if you cannot drive yourself, now with female drivers, people can feel even safer.
A previously male-dominated industry, the sector like many others is waking up to the fact that women should and need to be represented. Horizon Transfers Windhoek run by women does just that and LEFA is honoured by their choice to work with them. Using a sedan and a 14 seat minibus shuttle, Maxie and Lorraine, will be able to make a real impact using LEFA’s application and grow their business and level the playing field. Signing up with LEFA means that Horizon Transfers Windhoek, like others that have signed up will now have access to a whole new customer-base.
A customer base that looks for the shuttle and taxi service providers, rather than the other way round. An often heard issue is the lack of female drivers. With the signing up of Maxie and Lorraine, women will now be able to even more confidently take a LEFA and get to their destination safely.
Maxie of Horizon Transfers Windhoek said; “We are very excited to join the LEFA Team and add an extra level of service, commitment and assurance to users of this cab/shuttle-application, especially in giving women a safe passage home or to their destination.” Often the excuse for drink-driving is that there is no safe and secure alternative, with the technology that LEFA provide, this terrible excuse becomes null and void. Now with female drivers, it adds an extra dimension to LEFA’s services that cater to Windhoek residents.
The drivers that sign up with LEFA vehicles have all gone through a vigorous vetting process to ensure safety and quality of service to our customers. All drivers are all equipped with a Professional Driver’s Permit endorsed license by NATIS. This is an endorsement that is only issued to drivers without a criminal record and a clean road traffic law violations sheet. Cars registered with LEFA’s, like Horizon Transfers Windhoek, is registered with the Namibian Tourism Board and are comprehensively insured with passenger and public liability insurance. Frequent vetting drivers and inspection of vehicle is conducted to maintain an excellent standard of service provided to our customers.
Melkies Ausiku, Founder and Managing Director of LEFA said, “We at LEFA are excited and very happy that Horizon Transfers Windhoek has chosen to sign up to LEFA’s offering. We welcome them and hope it will inspire other drivers and shuttle companies, whether female or male to sign up and make ur roads safer and get our customers to their destination safely.”
LEFA is a shuttle requesting application that connects drivers and passengers. Passengers register in the application by entering a valid cellphone number and email address. It allows riders to request a shuttle or cab by simply entering the location which they would like to be transported to. LEFA operates in Windhoek, Kutako International Airport as well as lodges and game farms surrounding Windhoek. LEFA provides convenient cash and cashless payment options to passengers. LEFA allows passengers to view a driver’s information and vehicle’s details before the ride as well as the ability to track their requested driver in real-time once the ride has been confirmed. Passengers are given the opportunity to rate the driver and help LEFA improve its service delivery. – NDN Staffer
