WINDHOEK, 16 OCT – Police investigations into alleged fraud involving a Nigerian pastor of the Life-Changing Christian Church and his Namibian wife are not yet complete.
Pastor Isaac Onwordi and Suoma Onwordi made a third appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court along Lüderitz Street on Tuesday, when their alleged fraud case was postponed to 17 January next year to allow the police enough time to complete the investigations into the matter.
The two re-appeared on Tuesday morning before Windhoek Magistrate Celma Ndapewa Amadhila on the charge of defrauding a Windhoek couple of their N$1.5 million home in the Dorado Park residential area.
A summary of substantial facts contained in the charge sheet has it that the pastor and his wife allegedly rented the house on Erf 148 Nthilla Street, but it later resulted in the couple losing access to their property when the pastor and his wife transferred the property into their names by means of misrepresentation to officials of the City of Windhoek.
The prosecution alleges that the Onwordi couple had forged the signature of the property owner for the illegal property transfer.
The victims were at one-point worshippers at Life-Changing Christian Church.
The Onwordis are free on bail of N$10 000 each, which was extended until their next court appearance.
Windhoek-based defence lawyer Ndeli Ndaitwah of the Sisa Namandje law firm represented the Onwordi couple on Tuesday.
Public Prosecutor Bernadine Bertolini is handling the State’s case.
