EENHANA, 19 MAY – Sanlam Namibia is availing N.dollars 1 million to Haimbili Haufiku Secondary School in the Ohangwena Region for the renovation of its science and computer laboratories and library as part of the company’s 100th birthday celebrations.
Sanlam celebrates its centenary on 08 June this year.
The facilities were on Thursday handed over to the Eenhana Vocational Training Centre, which will do the renovations.
The renovations will be carried out under Sanlam’s ‘Blue Ladders Schools’ programme that will run across the country for the next three years.
“The programme, which is the flagship of our development initiative, is aimed at holistically improving the performance and results of our schools by focussing on improving competences in mathematics, science and English,” Sanlam Namibia Chief Executive Officer, Tertius Stears said during the handing over ceremony.
Haimbili Haufiku Secondary School was selected because it is the best performing school in the Ohangwena Region.
“I extend our sincere thanks to Sanlam Namibia, more so to the executives of the company who I tend to believe were behind the thinking which resulted in this much-needed financial assistance coming to Haimbili Haufiku,” Ohangwena Education Director Isak Hamatwi said.
The renovations will be completed before the end of June.
More schools will be identified to benefit from the Blue Ladder Schools programme.
