ONGWEDIVA, 16 AUG – President Hage Geingob will officially open the 2018 Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF), Ongwediva Town Council’s spokesperson, Jackson Muma confirmed in an interview with Nampa on Wednesday.
Muma said the OATF will be hosted from 24 August to 03 September, and Geingob will open it officially on 27 August.
According to Muma, 420 local and foreign exhibitors have been registered to showcase their products and services at this year’s fair, compared to 417 exhibitors of last year.
He pointed out that foreign exhibitors will be coming from countries such as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya and Indonesia.
Muma describe the OATF as “the platform where exhibitors showcase their innovativeness, share business ideas, network and create business linkages”.
He noted that the 2017 OATF recorded a turnout of more than 91 000 visitors, and the preparatory committee expects the number of the visitors to increase.
“We are expecting exhibitors and visitors to make the fair attractive and a platform to learn new business ideas from one another,” said Muma.
He invited local farmers to support the fair’s agricultural part by providing livestock for the auction scheduled to take place 29 August at the show-ground.
Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) is the main sponsor of the OATF after the company committed N$350 000 during a fundraising gala dinner held at the town last month.
