WINDHOEK, 27 JUN – President Hage Geingob is expected to join other Heads of State for the 31st Ordinary Session of the African Union in Nouakchott, Mauritania on Sunday and Monday.
State House said in a media statement on Wednesday the gathering takes place under the theme ‘Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation’.
A draft agenda published on the AU website on 06 June lists some of the activities as reports being tabled on activities of the Peace and Security Council and the State of Peace and Security in Africa; as well as the report of the Peace and Security Council on the Implementation of the AU Master Roadmap of Practical Steps to Silence Guns in Africa by Year 2020.
The summit is also expected to consider and adopt the draft legal instruments and 2019 AU budget.
The AU session will precede the 6th Southern African Customs Union Summit, which will take place in Gaborone, Botswana on Friday.
