Geingob opens 11th Eenhana expo

EENHANA, 01 AUG  – President Hage Geingob on Wednesday officially opened the 2018 Eenhana Trade and Business Expo.
This is the 11th year that the Eenhana Town Council is hosting the expo, which started on Monday.
It is the second time it is being held at the town’s Convention City.
Geingob said the event offers a unique opportunity for businesses in the region and beyond to showcase their products and services for domestic and global acceptance and competitiveness.
The Eenhana Expo, he said, possesses tremendous potential to spur greater trade and investment that are crucial to job creation and sustainable economic growth.
“We must, therefore, continue to work hand in hand to support expos and trade fairs, to become vehicles for investment and business promotion,” Geingob told his audience, including Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and Ohamba Martha Mwadinomho waKristian yaNelumbu of Oukwanyama.
He went on to say the government is in full support of initiatives such as the Eenhana Expo, as well as other efforts that are aimed at promoting the development of the local economies.
In this connection, Geingob noted, in 2010 the government allocated N.dollars 4 million towards the construction of phase one of the Eenhana Convention City, the venue where the expo is now taking place.
A total of 205 exhibitors from Namibia and beyond are participating in the show this year, compared to 230 participants last year.
The town’s spokesperson, Paulo Shilongo told Nampa on Tuesday exhibitors from Kenya, showcasing African attire, and those from Yemen, exhibiting and selling perfume, kitchenware and carpets, are the only foreign exhibitors featuring in the expo.
The six-day showpiece will conclude its activities on Saturday, and is hosted under the theme ‘Fostering business and economic sustainability’.
