REHOBOTH, 19 Apr – The case of four men accused of attempted murder in Rehoboth was heard at the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where the accused were denied bail.
The accused, who are in fact four and not three as previously reported by the Namibian Police Force – Wilfred Africa, Daniel Mouton, Nelson Dausab and Debra Kondo – made their first appearance before Magistrate Andre Matulich.
It is alleged that in an incident that occurred in Rehoboth’s Block G, the accused allegedly beat a man with planks and stabbed him with a knife. The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Windhoek Central Hospital for treatment.
Although Mouton said he committed the offence and that the other three accused were forced into the case, Matulich warned him that he should rather wait for his lawyer as the admission could reflect on the records of the court and could count against him.
Victor Mutumbulwa appeared for the State.
The matter was postponed to 08 May for the accused to obtain legal representation.
