WANAHEDA, Mar. 17 – A 28-year old Namibian male driver is ruing to offer help to two hitchhikers after they took his kindness for weakness before robbing him of his belongings, including the car he was driving. According to a police report, the incident occured on Friday 11 March at about 23:43 at or near Endengu bar.
“It is alleged that a 28 years of age Namibian male driver offered a lift to two men that are not known to him, since they were apparently heading the same direction. Along the way at Freedom land traffic lights, these two unknown men pointed a pistol at the complainant and demanded for his valuables.”
They further drove with him until Dorado Valley where they pushed him out of the car, took his wallet and total cash of N$150. 00 and drove away with his car.
“The stolen car is a white Toyota Corolla (Dankie Botswana) Reg no: N 155663 W. The car is written on the rear windscreen with big letters in white colour: “ONE TIME”. Total value of the property is N$45 500.00. The car is not recovered as yet. Suspects are not known and Police investigation continues.
On Saturday, 12/03/2022 around 00:00 in front of Ekandjo Bar, Mondesa, it is alleged that a taxi driver aged 30, Namibian male (victim), driving a lime green Nissan March, was stopped by a group of men, (approximately 7x male suspects) that he found in front of a Bar in Mondesa thinking that they were genuine customers.
“The suspects started assaulting him with stones, tore his clothes, fastened his hands with a rope, blind-folded his face with a pieces of cloth that they cut from his clothes and loaded him into the boot of his taxi and scratched the victim with knives on the stomach. It is further alleged that the suspects took over the vehicle and drove around while the victim was in the boot and robbed people that they found in the streets at gunpoint.
“According to the victim, he heard a single gunshot at the second incident but he did not know at which place.
The vehicle was found abandoned behind Festus Gonteb Primary School in Mondesa at about 06:00. The victim was rescued by a passer-by who heard him screaming for help from the boot. The suspects took along the Car keys, the jack and locknut.
The victim sustained injuries on the forehead above the left eye, on the shoulder as well as scratch marks on the stomach. He was taken to Swakopmund State hospital for medical examination. No arrest has been made and nothing is
recovered yet.
In Mondesa, police are investigating a case of Robbery with Aggravating Circumstances after an incident that occurred
on Saturday, 12/03/2022 between 05h00 and 06:00 in front of Yellow Bar nearby Shinedima bar.
“It is alleged that the seven (7) suspects that robbed and kidnapped a taxi driver approached two victims: aged 39 and 43, both Namibian male while they were standing in front of a local Bar. Three suspects, one armed with a pistol, another one had a stone and the third suspect without anything disembarked from the taxi and confronted the victims. One of the
suspects allegedly cocked and fire single shot from the pistol, searched one victim and took 1x Samsung Galaxy J4 Core valued at N$1500.00, as well as a card holder containing his ID card and bank cards including N$1 000.00 cash.
