Karasburg, July 28 -– The Minister of Health and Social Services, Kalumbi Shangula, handed over equipment donated by the Debmarine’s Social Investment Fund worth an estimated N$1 million to the Karasburg District Hospital on 27 July 2022.
“I wish to express our sincere gratitude to Debmarine Namibia for its generous donation towards supporting the ministry’s efforts to expand patient care and access to quality health services in the Karasburg District.
“For the past 16 years, Debmarine Namibia has collaborated with the ministry to promote quality health care and improve effective treatment and health outcomes for our patients,” Shangula said.
Shangula added that the partnership cooperation between the ministry and Debmarine did not start with this donation but started in 2006 when DebMarine sponsored the renovation and upgrades to a section of the Katutura Intermediate Hospital in Windhoek.
Debmarine Namibia has not only been giving medical equipment to different state hospitals but also cleaning material for maintaining good hygiene at the hospitals.
The company played a crucial role in helping to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The minister said in 2020, the joint Debmarine Namibia-Namdeb Foundation, pledged medical equipment worth N$9.9 million consisting of 25 ventilation machines, 25 vital signs monitors and Personal Protective Equipment for frontline workers to the Office of the Prime Minister.
The equipment was procured and delivered to the Ministry of Health towards the end of 2020, he said.
“The ministry appreciates the ongoing generosity and support provided through Debmarine’s Social Investment Fund to our country, and more specifically, to the Ministry of Health and Social Services to improve health care services.
“You have my assurance that this medical equipment and items, worth an estimated N$1 million, will be used to benefit the patients who visit the Karasburg District Hospital,” Shangula said.
