OTJIWARONGO, 234OCT – A 12-year-old boy died at the Okahandja dumpsite on Monday after he allegedly fell from a trailer which was being towed by a moving vehicle.
The deceased has been identified as Almano Cloete and his next of kin have been informed of his death.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Tuesday the accident occurred around 18h00.
Cloete and the 20-year-old driver of the vehicle were at the dumpsite to offload rubbish.
Mbeha said preliminary police investigations indicate that Cloete was seated in the trailer while it was being towed, and he allegedly fell in between the vehicle and the trailer.
“The trailer drove over him and he later succumbed to his injuries,” she said.
A culpable homicide case has been opened against the driver at the Okahandja Police Station.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
