WINDHOEK, Sept. 26 – The much anticipated play-offs in the Bank Windhoek Fistball League will take place this coming Saturday in Swakopmund. The first game will kick-off at 08:30.
SFC Swakopmund will host the tournament and the Swakopmunders are expected to thrive on their home turf.
The match day will start with the last league games in the National A League. In the first scheduled match, champions CFC 1 will battle it out with their club mates (CFC 2). Afterwards, CFC 2 will then take on SKW 1.
The two top teams of Cohen and SKW, who have already qualified for the finals, are expected to have no problems with the reserve of CFC, who are currently sitting on zero points.
Fireworks are expected when the top two teams, SKW 1 and CFC 1 face each other for the last time in the preliminary round. The final is set at four winning sets and starts at 16:00. As it stands, the record champions, SKW 1, have a six-point cushion on the defending champions Cohen.
SKW 1 are favourites to lift the trophy this season but defending champions Cohen, are determined to fight for the title and cause an upset. This is a battle not to be missed.
Teams in the National B League are also promising to put up exciting performances during match day.
In the semi-finals SFC will face DTS who qualified for the first time. SFC have already won two out of three games against DTS. The club from the capital (DTS) wants to equal this record. SFC, has however shown loss of concentration in games before, which benefited their rivals. Nevertheless, the fistballers from the coast are planning to use their home turf to their advantage.
In the end, the winner will face this season’s unbeaten team, SKW 2. All is set for a past paced fistball action match day. – NDN Staffer
