KABUL, Dec. 31– Afghan authorities have completed and are actively developing nine major dams alongside 341 small check dams across the country over the past year, according to the official Bakhtar news agency on Wednesday.
These projects are designed to enhance water resource management, support agricultural development, and mitigate flooding in various regions, the report said.
The construction of both large-scale and small-scale dams is expected to regulate water flow, minimize the effects of seasonal floods, and increase agricultural productivity.
These initiatives form part of broader efforts to strengthen water conservation, improve irrigation systems, and enhance livelihoods, particularly in rural communities that depend heavily on agriculture.
