WINDHOEK, Mar. 25 – A nerve-wrecking, exciting atmosphere has prevailed among local artists, as the December 2017 submission date for the 2018 edition of the Namibian Annual Music Awards meant that there was nothing more they could do but to wait for their effort yield result.
And on Wednesday, 28 March, the wait will be over as the nominated artists who will travel to Swakopmund for this year’s edition, are set to be announced.
The awards are just a month away, and one can literally taste and feel the excitement, nerves and anxiety in the air as the biggest music night in Namibia gears to take centre stage.
Given that the NAMA Nomination announcement ceremony itself has evolved into somewhat of a pulsating event, this year will expected to be the same when artists gather at the National Theatre of Namibia later this week.
Artists who survived the grueling two-phases that are the entry and judging stages will feel fortunate after coming out tops in a fierce competition that attracted close to 800 entries, and they will be the final contenders for the various awards on the night.
The event will be broadcast live on national television at 16H00 on Whatagwan, “to ensure that the whole nation is
kept in the loop.”
This year’s edition returns to the majestic Swakopmund Dome (Swakopmund Indoor Sport Centre), where over 20
electrifying live performances will form part of the event line up this year. Namibia’s biggest stars, socialites,
celebrities, the trendsetters, the mere-mortals and the ordinary are expected to flock to yet another captivating event.
Tipped for April 28, the 2018 NAMA’s ticket sales for the event are now open at webtickets at a cost of N$600 for the VIP and $250 for the General area.
