ISLAMABAD, Dec. 19 — Foreign exchange reserves of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by 1.3 billion U.S. dollars in a week, the bank said on Thursday. During the week ending Dec. 12, the central bank’s reserves stood at 15.9 billion dollars, the bank said in a statement.
The increase was mainly due to the receipt of 914 million Special Drawing Rights, equivalent to about 1.2 billion dollars, from the International Monetary Fund under the Extended Fund Facility and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility, the SBP added.
Net foreign exchange reserves held by commercial banks were recorded at 5.2 billion dollars.
The country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at 21.1 billion dollars.(Namibia Daily News/Xinhua)
