Three Namibian female students graduate from Loudima

WINDHOEK, 20 SEP – Three Namibian female students who were part of the first intake of the Loudima Technical and Vocational Institute (LTVI) graduated in Congo on 18 July 2018.
The three are Johannes Nelao and Naidila Menneth who completed an A Level (Grade 13) in Animal Production, while Andreas Tulela completed an equivalent qualification in Business and Hospitality.
They are among the first group of 42 students who comprised of 26 boys and 16 girls.
The graduation was announced by Republic of Congo Ambassador to Namibia, Chantal Maryse Itoua-Apoyolo, when she handed over 500 magazines to the library of the Hage Geingob High School here on Wednesday.
“We are informed that next year we expect 10 graduates from Namibia,” she added.
A flagship of the cooperation between Namibia and Congo, Loudima is a clear statement of the will between the two countries to build the Africa of tomorrow against all odds, she said.
On her part, Nelao, who spoke on behalf of the graduates, told members of the media that it was difficult to adapt to the culture and the people of Congo.
“We were not familiar with the food and it took us a whole month before we adapted to the food. We used to eat only macaroni and rice that we know,” she continued.
She thus encouraged learners to take their studies seriously and work hard and be thankful for what they have.
In July 2007, the two governments signed an agreement for the creation of the institute after a decision by the Heads of State of the two countries to perpetuate the historical relations of the former Loudima Technical Secondary School site under the South West Africa People’s Organisation (Swapo), and to develop multi-faceted cooperation that would benefit the two countries.
Its aim was to create a cadre of graduates with competencies and skills in line with national and international standards in order to meet the demands of industry locally and internationally.
