OTJIWARONGO, 23 MAY – Members of the Swapo Party in the Otjozondjupa Region on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with the two-day training session they received from the Swapo Party School through its regional outreach programmes.
The training, which started on Monday and ended here on Tuesday, was aimed at grooming and teaching newly-elected party leaders of different structures on the party’s philosophies and doctrines.
Several Swapo Party regional and local authority councillors and members of the Otjozondjupa Swapo Regional Executive Committee attended the training.
Party regional coordinator, Susan Hikopua told Nampa shortly after the training her group was taught many political topics and encouraged to always apply the party constitution in their activities.
“It also came out clearly that any member in the future would have to take up this training course before contesting any position in the party,” she said.
The Otjozondjupa Region, she added, will now have to appoint a regional trainer who attended the training to also take the message down and train others at the section and branch levels.
Lazarus Guiteb of the party’s Regional Elders’ Council expressed that he is happy to have learnt that all members are equal in the party, including those assigned to head various party organs.
“We were told to be humble to each other, bearing in mind that none is above the others in the party,” he said.
Another member, Jeaneth Kuhanga said the two-day lectures evolved around its messages on the rules, regulations and channels of communication within the party.
She encouraged others at section and branch levels expecting to attend the training to do so with pleasure and benefit from it.
The training was conducted by Swapo Party School Rector, Marco Hausiku, National Coordinator, Dr Charles Mubita and Deputy Minister of Safety and Security, Daniel Kashikola.
A total of 49 members attended the training course.
The Swapo Party School has been in operation since May 2016.
