WINDHOEK, 26 APR -After graduating from the Namibia College of the Arts (COTA) in 2010, Taimi Sakeus pursued her love for fashion by freelancing at some of Namibia’s well established fashion design companies. With the skills and knowledge, she acquired at COTA, Taimi always thought she had what it takes to fulfill her dream of starting up her own fashion design business.
Due lack of startup capital, starting her own business was not easy, but kept her dreaming of owning her own business one day.
In order to generate a startup capital Taimi decided to work in a local salon in Windhoek as a hair dresser, until in 2016 ‘Tai Exclusive’ was born.
“In 2016 I decided to follow my passion and what I love doing which is fashion design.’’ Taimi said leaving her job at the salon was not easy, but she believed in herself.

“My family, my colleagues and friends were not happy with my me leaving my job at the salon, but I however followed my heart.”
She began working at home in her room. All the consultations and meetings with her clients were done at home. After building a database of her clients she decided to look for a place in town, and ended up renting a garage in the vicinity of Eros Windhoek.
Last year the she was offered a place where she could operate her designing work. Tai Exclusive was funded by her own savings from when she used to work at the salon. Now she is the proud owner of Tai Exclusive. The profit she makes she is able to pay office rent, buy groceries and send money to her parents in the northern part of Namibia.

Tai Exclusive employ two employees, who only come in when she has a fashion gig or events.
Her company has organized a fashion show event that will take place in June this year with the theme: “Women Empowerment,” and the former first lady of Namibia Madam Penehupifo Pohamba, will be the guest speaker.
She has urged fellow young women in Namibia and the entire Africa to believe in their potential and follow their dreams and make their dream come true by doing what they love and which may have economic benefit and employment creation.

Taimi plans to look for opportunities outside the neighboring countries such as South Africa, Botswana, Angola and countless others to expand her business and hopefully go globally.
