Swakopmund, Aug. 26 — DRC School Project and Community centre set out a Heroes Day of cheerful memories by taking pupils and members of the community back in time, to the world of fun and moving pictures.
Individuals made their way to the gates of the DRC School Project and Community Centre, to watch movies and spend the day with the pupils and teachers, as a dedication to the heroes who fought bravely for Namibia’s independence.
Most times children spend public holidays jumping around and doing unproductive things in the world, but the centre wanted to set this day especially for them to reflect on the powerful combined impact of effects related to history and still have a good time.
The movie sessions were divided into three timeframes for three age group categories – 3-6 years; 7-15 years and then 16 years and above closing the show time.
To soothe the emotions during the movie, the centre also prepared popcorn and some ice-cold soft drink to quench the viewers’ thirst.
All proceeds from tickets and other sales will go towards the Centre’s study exchange programme for Grades 10/11.
