LUSAKA, Jan. 13 — Zambian Minister of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane met with the Turkish Ambassador to Zambia Huseyin Barbaros Dicle in Lusaka on Tuesday to explore potential ways of enhancing economic collaboration.
Musokotwane said the engagement reaffirmed the breadth of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and Zambia’s strategic intent to deepen sustainable investment linkages across sectors of shared economic interest.
He reaffirmed Zambia’s strong interest in attracting substantial Turkish investment in mining, railways, tourism, and agriculture, emphasizing that these sectors are fundamental to the nation’s growth and economic diversification strategy, as stated in a release following the discussions.
Musokotwane highlighted Türkiye’s strong economic performance and suggested the possibility of mutually reinforcing growth through well-targeted investment in Zambia’s productive sectors.
The minister further said the increased participation by the Turkish private sector in Zambia’s economy would support value addition, industrial expansion and job creation.
For his part, the Turkish envoy reaffirmed strong interest from the Turkish private sector in Zambia’s mining sector.
He said the introduction of direct Turkish flights to Zambia has improved connectivity between the two countries, noting that enhanced air links are facilitating business engagement, investment exploration and tourism flows.
This development, he added, is reinforcing the practical foundations of bilateral economic cooperation. (Namibia Daily News/Xinhua)
