LUSAKA, Oct. 01– Zambia will host the second Digital Government Africa Summit aimed at finding solutions to drive digital transformation in Africa, a senior government official said Monday.
The summit, which runs from Oct. 2-4, will attract more than 500 delegates from 33 African countries.
The event, which expects to tackle issues of how to implement e-government services, will allow delegates to engage in thought-provoking discussions, share innovative ideas, and explore cutting-edge solutions to drive digital transformation in Africa. It will also offer opportunities for fostering collaboration and networking among the delegates.
Jack Mwiimbu, minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, said the summit will provide an opportunity for African governments to forge links, promote cross-border payment systems and allow interactions among professionals in cyberspace. He told reporters during a press briefing that the government attaches great importance to digital transformation because of the immense benefits which it offers.
Felix Mutati, minister of Technology and Science, said the government will use the summit to showcase its work in digital security, adding that a lot of progress has been made in making Zambia’s cyberspace secure since the hosting of the inaugural summit last year.
Percy Chinyama, national coordinator of the Smart Zambia Institute, a government agency that coordinates and implements e-government, said the event will help in promoting digital transformation in Africa. (Xinhua)
