BEIJING, Feb. 28 — Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message of condolences to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa over a recent mine disaster caused by floods that followed heavy rains.
In the message on Monday, Xi said he was very sad to hear of the accident that had caused heavy casualties. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, as well as in his own name, the Chinese president mourned the dead and extended sympathy to the families of the victims as well as the Zimbabwean people.
Xi wished an early recovery of the injured in the accident, and said China is willing to provide help.
Dozens of people were feared trapped underground and mostly dead in the tragedy that took place in the province of Mashonaland West earlier in February. – XINHUA
