Divundu, 18 Aug. 18 — Women of Dithimba village in Kavango East have come up with an innovative idea to raise income for themselves within the environment in which they live.
The women come together and decided to plant a field of mahangu as a co-operative and ask the village councillor to take their harvest to AMTA for sale. This would ensure the women did not take the mahangu from their family harvests.
Namufida Euginia (44), said she decided to join the group because she could not get a job to help her look after her family and she had no other source of income. Besides, she said she enjoyed sorting and collecting the mahangu heads.
