WINDHOEK, JAN 30 – Namibians are now free to enjoy travel to the United Arab Emirates following the rescinding of a travel ban that had been imposed by the UAE. Following an engagement on 21 January 2022 between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO), and her counterpart, His Highness Sheik Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, the travel restrictions were effectively lifted.
A statement from MIRCO read: “The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) welcomes the lifting of the travel restrictions on travelers from Namibia by the United Arab Emirates (UAE); after an engagement on 21 January 2022, between Honourable Netumbo Nandi-Ndaiwath, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation and His Highness Sheik Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates.”
The United Arab Emirates announced that the travel ban would be lifted on January 29 2022.
