ISTANBUL, Dec. 15 — Turkish police apprehended 301 suspects in large-scale cybercrime operations conducted over the past six days across 55 provinces in the country, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Monday.
Yerlikaya said on social media platform X that the operations targeted crimes, including online child sexual exploitation, illegal betting and aggravated fraud, to prevent citizens from suffering financial and psychological harm.
He said that among the detainees, 50 have been formally arrested, while 39 were released under judicial supervision.
Legal procedures for the remaining suspects are ongoing.
The operations were carried out under the coordination of the Cybercrime Department of the Turkish National Police and the Financial Crimes Investigation Board, with provincial cybercrime units conducting simultaneous raids in multiple cities around the country. (Namibia Daily News/Xinhua)
