Stock theft suspect commits suicide

ONGWEDIVA, Oct. 12 – A 49 year old man from Oshivelo in the Oshikoto region was found hanging in front of a farm main house by farm workers on Tuesday morning. The man a suspect in a stock theft case, according to a crime report issued on Tuesday, by Oshikoto NamPol Crime Investigation Coordinator, Naomi Katjiua.

Christopher Kamati was found hanging with a rope under a tree in front of the farm main house by farm workers on Tuesday morning.

“It’s is alleged deceased travelled to Oshakati yesterday and set fire on the dwelling of a witness and co- farm worker Simon Petrus Nandjaya who escaped unharmed,” said Katjiua.

No suicide note was left and the body was transported to Tsumeb Police Mortuary for a post mortem to be conducted.

Elsewhere, a case of murder was also opened at Oshikoto regional police after a 20 year old boy stabbed a 19 year old girls from Okambugha village to death on Monday afternoon.

“The deceased was transported to Omuthiya state hospital and later transferred to Onandjokwe, but passed on while on the way,” said Katjiua.
It’s alleged that the deceased and suspect were going home from school and the suspect took out a kitchen knife that he was having and stabbed deceased once on the right side of the chest without any provocation.
The deceased was identified as Mhanda Fredrick, a grade 8 learner at Kandume Combined School in the same village.
Katjiua noted that the suspect was arrested. Next of kin were informed and the body was taken to Tsumeb Police Mortuary for post mortem. – Maria Abraham
