ISLAMABAD, Nov. 18 — Pakistan’s security forces have killed 15 militants in two intelligence-based operations in the country’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Tuesday.
The operations were carried out on Nov. 15-16 on reports of militant presence, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, said in the statement.
In the first operation in Dera Ismail Khan district, troops engaged a militant hideout and killed 10 militants, including their ringleader, the ISPR said.
In a separate operation in North Waziristan district, security forces neutralized five more militants, it added.
The military said that follow-up sanitization operations are underway to eliminate remaining threats.
The campaign aims to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country, according to the statement. (Xinhua)
