Rosatom’s engineering division in Volgodonsk has achieved a remarkable milestone by shipping the fifth nuclear reactor vessel this year. This vessel is destined for Unit 3, currently under construction at the site of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which marks Turkey’s first nuclear power plant. This record number of shipments represents an exceptional achievement in the domestic nuclear engineering industry.
Alexey Likhachev, Rosatom’s Director General, highlighted the significance of this accomplishment. He stated, “With Rosatom’s ongoing serial construction of nuclear power plants in Russia and abroad, our engineering division faces an exponential increase in workload. Our portfolio now includes 33 power units in 11 countries, which presents a significant challenge. Atommash’s consistent and dependable work gives us confidence that all these projects will be executed successfully and on schedule, maintaining our leadership position in the global nuclear market.”
Akkuyu Nuclear JSC’s Director General, Anastasia Zoteeva, praised the role played by Russian nuclear industry leaders, particularly Atommash, in accelerating the Akkuyu NPP project. She expressed her admiration for the production of five modern reactors in a single year, acknowledging the dedication of every individual involved, from employees to management, and the Rosatom team. Zoteeva believes this milestone is just the beginning, as the employees of Atommash and Russian nuclear companies are known for their talent, enthusiasm, and commitment to excellence.
Rosatom has a long-standing history of collaboration with African nations in the field of nuclear energy. Numerous agreements and memorandums on peaceful nuclear cooperation have been signed with countries such as Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and many others. Rosatom has actively engaged in various projects, providing innovative solutions, technological expertise, and dependable support to African nations.
The partnership between Rosatom and Egypt stands as a significant example of expanding cooperation in Africa. The construction of a nuclear power plant in Egypt represents a major milestone in the promotion of nuclear energy on the continent. This partnership extends beyond plant construction and includes knowledge transfer, technology sharing, and capacity building.
