JOHANNESBURG, May 17– Five people were killed Sunday after a VW Sedan lost control and hit a tree in South Africa’s Hoedspruit in Limpopo province, said the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety.
The department said four of the people were proclaimed dead at the scene and another one was rushed to Tintswalo Hospital where he died.
“Five people were killed in a car crash on the R40 road outside Hoedspruit in the Mopani District in the early hours of Sunday. The driver of a VW Sedan lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and hit a tree. Preliminary investigations are revealing reckless driving as a possible cause of the accident,” said the department spokesperson Mike Maringa.
While saying that most fatal accidents recorded in the province are caused by reckless driving, Maringa called on motorists to follow the traffic rules and avoid tragedies. Xinhua
