ISLAMABAD, June 26 — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that Pakistan remains firmly committed to eliminating drug abuse and illicit trafficking, reaffirming the country’s resolve to protect society from the scourge of drug abuse.
In a message marking the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Sharif said the government is strengthening national capacities, enhancing institutional coordination, and expanding cooperation with international partners to combat illicit trafficking.
“Pakistan is deepening international partnerships through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and effective regional cooperation to counter illicit trafficking networks,” he said.
Highlighting the Pakistani government’s measures, Sharif said in collaboration with provincial governments, awareness and prevention programs in educational institutions are being expanded, while treatment and rehabilitation facilities are being further strengthened.
He highlighted the anti-narcotics force’s efforts in law enforcement, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, calling on stakeholders, including parents, teachers, educational institutions, and community leaders, to join hands in building a healthier and drug-free society.
