According to OTC spokesperson Jackson Muma, the first part of the campaign focused on Efidi Extension 1 and Oshiko area towards the traffic check point in Ongwediva (Oshiko road block).
“The aim of the campaign is to cultivate the culture of keeping the environment clean by the residents, thereby promote voluntary cleaning,” he said.
Muma explained that although this is a regular annual cleaning exercise, Ongwediva Town is among other towns contesting for “the Namibia Cleaner Town of the Year 2019” staged by Namibia Media Holdings.
Furthermore, Muma noted that Council shall from time to time announce the target area, so that the community can effectively participate in the campaign.
The cleaning exercise was jointed composed of Ongwediva Police, Ongwediva Senior Secondary School and members of the public. While on the first day of the campaign, Wendelinus Kandjubi of T4 Investment donated water and Timoteus Kalola of Michelline Construction donated cool drinks and water as refreshment during the campaign.
