OKAHAO, APRIL 25 – The Omagongo Cultural Festival is set to take place at the Ongandjera Palace at Uukwandongo village, a few kilometers from Okahao in the Omusati Region. The Omagongo Cultural Festival takes place annually. Although hosted by the eight traditional authorities of the Aawambo ethnic group on a rotational basis, it is a national event, recognized internationally as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The festival will take place from 26 to 27 April. The first day of the festival will consist of presentations by experts on culture and history as well as entertainment by traditional dancers and musicians.
The festival brings people together to socialize and to enjoy fermented marula juice and it gives a platform to exchange ideas and to transmit customary norms and traditions to the younger generation.
